Buddy Labs Inc. (“Buddy Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a private company incorporated in Ontario, Canada. We respect your privacy and are committed to handling your information honestly, transparently, and with the minimum collection necessary.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit thebuddylabs.com or contact us by email, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
1.Who is responsible
The data controller for the purposes of applicable privacy laws (including PIPEDA in Canada, the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and the CCPA/CPRA in California) is Buddy Labs Inc., Ontario, Canada.

2.What this policy covers
This policy covers the public Buddy Labs website at thebuddylabs.com and any direct correspondence you send us at our published email addresses. Individual Buddy Labs products, when launched, will publish their own product-specific privacy notices that govern data collected through those products.
3.Information we collect
(a) Information you provide to us directly. When you email us at support@thebuddylabs.com, privacy@thebuddylabs.com, or any other Buddy Labs address, we receive your email address, name (if included), and the contents of your message and any attachments.
(b) Information collected automatically when you visit the site. Our website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare automatically collects standard server–side request information for security, abuse prevention, and operational purposes. This typically includes:
- your IP address;
- the date and time of your request;
- the URL you requested and the HTTP status returned;
- your browser’s user agent string and referring URL.
We do not place advertising cookies, third–party trackers, or analytics scripts on this website. Cloudflare may set technical cookies (such as __cf_bm) for security and bot mitigation; these do not identify you and are not used for advertising.
4.How we use your information
- To respond to your email enquiries and provide support.
- To operate, secure, and improve the website (for example, blocking abuse and diagnosing errors).
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
We will never use your email address to sign you up to marketing lists you have not asked for, and we do not profile you based on your visit to the website.
5.Legal bases (EEA / UK visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: legitimate interests (operating and securing our website, responding to enquiries you initiate); consent (where required, for example for any future optional features); and legal obligation (where applicable law requires us to retain or disclose information).
6.How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with the limited categories of recipients below:
- Service providers we use to operate the site, including our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and the email provider that delivers messages sent to our mailboxes. These providers act on our instructions and are bound by their own contractual and legal obligations.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information where we are required to do so by law, court order, or other valid legal process, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Buddy Labs, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: if Buddy Labs is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
7.How long we keep your information
We retain email correspondence for as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow–up, typically up to 24 months, unless a longer period is required by law. Cloudflare server logs are retained according to Cloudflare’s own retention schedule, which is generally short (days to weeks).
You can ask us to delete your correspondence at any time by emailing privacy@thebuddylabs.com.
8.International transfers
Buddy Labs is based in Canada. Cloudflare operates a global network and may process requests from edge locations around the world. By using the site or contacting us, you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including Canada, the United States, and the European Union. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross–border transfers.
9.Your rights
Subject to the law that applies to you, you may have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your information;
- request a portable copy of your information in a commonly used format;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where we relied on it; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca).
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@thebuddylabs.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically within 30 days). We do not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
10.Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we receive, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for the website and access controls on our internal systems. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11.Children
The Buddy Labs website is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@thebuddylabs.com and we will delete it.
12.Third–party links
The site may contain links to third–party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with any information.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage or otherwise reasonably brought to your attention. Your continued use of the site after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
